Virtual moderators for more UNT students in the future

More students will be coached by computers over the coming semesters thanks to a growing University of North Texas partnership.

Students in select online classes will have software suggest ways to improve their comments and questions when professors have them post in the online forum.

The program is called Packback, a company started by two college students who were looking to make textbooks more affordable. They’ve pivoted since their appearance on the television show Shark Tank to attempt an improvement in student engagement and critical thinking in online classes.

New online certificate programs
The 15-hour Data Analytics undergraduate and graduate certificate programs could be completed in as little as seven months.

The ability to analyze data and translate it into useful insights and solutions for everything from saving the bees to navigating the new post-coronavirus world is in high demand.

According to “Forbes” magazine, very few people have the skills needed to understand and analyze data effectively despite data analytics being one of the most important tools for any company. To address the demand, the University of North Texas is offering two new fully-online certificates in data analytics starting Summer 2020.

DENTON (UNT), Texas — The business acumen that turned a $140 million investment 30 years ago into a $5.5 billion company today soon will be in a virtual classroom.
The University of North Texas, a Carnegie Tier One research institution, and the Dallas Cowboys, named the most valuable sports franchise in the world by Forbes, have created a Master of Business Administration degree that the two organizations will begin offering in Fall 2020.

University of North Texas Expands Access to Online Learning
UNT soon will offer non-credit, online courses in a variety of subjects through Coursera

DENTON (UNT), Texas —  The University of North Texas soon will offer non-credit, online courses in a variety of subjects through Coursera, giving more learners access to world-class educational content created and taught by UNT faculty.

The university recently inked a deal with the popular online education company, joining an elite group of higher education institutions such as University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Michigan, Johns Hopkins University and more.
