Health Services Administration
Master of Science

The Master of Science in Health Services Administration is a skills-based graduate program focused on the development and practical application of all the leadership skills essential to health services administrators in today’s competitive marketplace. We are pursuing program accreditation by CAHME (the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education), and the program is based on a model of 26 specific leadership competencies identified by the National Center for Healthcare Leadership. Each of the core courses in the program has an applied project that gives you the chance to practice essential management skills under faculty supervision.

The program is designed to provide a broad foundation in health care delivery systems; management strategies; ethical and legal issues in the healthcare environment; the role of information systems and technology in high-quality and efficient care delivery; marketing health services; and in the principles of solid financial management. The eight core courses in the program encompass health services administration. A variety of four-course concentration areas including applied gerontology, rehabilitation, health informatics, and health data analytics allow you to focus on a particular area of interest.

The program is available entirely online from the Denton campus and as a hybrid program at the New College at Frisco, where you have class face-to-face one evening per week with the rest of the material in each course delivered online. The Frisco program is ideal for international students because it meets the face-to-face course requirements for the F1 student visa. It is also convenient for those living near Frisco. The content of the online program and Frisco program are identical. You will find a high level of interaction with faculty and your classmates in your courses that will help you to get to know your classmates and your faculty well and give you the chance to exchange ideas and to explore areas that interest you most. We have a holistic admissions policy--taking into consideration the whole person and not simply your academic record--and we typically have no GRE requirement. We are invested in your success and in helping you reach your personal goals as you earn your masters’ degree!

This program can be completed in 18 months or less by going full time (3 courses per semester) for 4 consecutive semesters.
